It feels like it’s been ages since I’ve done one of these. Work and life has been getting crazy busy of late and I honestly felt like I was losing control of everything. This Monday I found myself at home with a sick child and used the time to take stock.

So what’s new?

Ideally the answer should be nothing. I made a promise to myself not to buy anything new until I finished painting DOOM the board game. I’m only about half way through but I’ve already broken that promise. I think more than once :(

Grail game, no. I'm really enjoying it though, expect a review soon.

I’ve bought 40K but that is an exception because I bought it more for Ronin that myself. I also told myself that when I bought New York Slice, I know that’s a lie :P The big one though is Coffee Roaster, I’ve had my eye on this for ages. It’s been out of print for a while and is distributed directly from the producer in Japan. Needless to say it’s not easy to get hold of, so when one appeared locally I snapped it up.

To be honest, that’s actually not bad 3 new games in 3 months. There have been a few expansions though, Runewars, Star Wars Destiny and another 40K box.

10 x 10 update

As things stand it does not look like I’m going to finish my 10 x 10 this year. Life is just throwing so many curve balls that I spend all my time ducking and diving instead of gaming. This past weekend was no exception. On Saturday I offered to run demo games at Hamleys in Mall of Africa; Sunday I was running a Runewars event at Nexus in Randburg. I guess it does count as gaming, just not what is on my list.

Runewars is really cool, if only I knew someone who could write up a review…

I think I can easily get up to 80% but a lot of the games left are big ones and I want to paint. When the muse hits it’s often a bad idea to ignore her. I guess it depends on how my weekends go, as things stand I already have 2 Saturdays in September booked out.

In the pipeline

October has a plethora of awesome games on the way, Fallout (both versions), Twilight Imperium 4, Civilisation. The new stock of Godfather should arrive in SA soon, there’s a reprint of Marco Polo… SO MANY COOL GAMES… I must resist though because I’ve got a few Kickstarters arriving in Q4.

Gloomhaven, Fog of Love, Kingdom Death, Mythic Battles: Pantheon. 3 of those are big box games and will need a lot of shelf space.

Speaking of shelves…

I actually got off of my fat @ss this week and did some work. It’s been ages since I’ve even hung a curtain rail, my long spirit level is missing too but Ronin and I got the job done! It took some effort to do it in the evenings and some patience from Pria to have stuff all over the living room while we were working. Man it feels good to have some space; I guess I need some new games to fill it up :P

Ronin was a huge help, and he is quite proud of what we did too.

It’s only a temporary fix though. We are planning on adding a room to the house so I’ll move to a bigger study at some point. Even so I’ve left some room for expansion I’m planning on adding another set of shelves above these. I’d like to get some mounted painting lights too and maybe a nice paint stand.

Soon shelf tetris will be a game I won't have to play.

Now that I look back I’ve actually done a fair bit. Time to go and play some games :)
